New generation small bags based on sustainable raw materials. The small bags for fruit, vegetables and baked goods, which are sold in bulk to the Norwegian grocery trade, are currently based on fossil PE. The idea is to investigate and identify the most sustainable raw material alternatives, with the aim of ensuring that the transition itself, from fossil PE, becomes more sustainable. A pilot project will define the status of knowledge regarding both the sustainability profile of the relevant raw material alternatives for small bags, as well as the most relevant environmental indicators in such a sustainability assessment. In addition, any knowledge gaps in the existing literature will be identified, and pertinent research challenges will be developed for a continuation project.
