NORSUS congratulates our colleague Anna Furberg as the winner of SETAC Europe Young Scientist Life Cycle Assessment (LCA) award 2022

At the Opening Ceremony of 32nd SETAC Europe Annual Meeting on the 15th of May, Anna Furberg, Senior Researcher at NORSUS, was acknowledged as the winner of the SETAC Europe Young Scientist LCA award in 2022. This award recognizes exceptional achievements by a young scientist in the field of LCA.

Anna has made outstanding contributions to the development and application of LCA, for example by the development of a practice-based framework for defining functional units in comparative LCAs of materials. She has also contributed with the development of a method for including human health impacts related to the use of conflict minerals in social LCA. The latter method was applied in a study on whether studded tires save or take lives from a wider life cycle perspective, which received high interest in media. Related to this, she showed her excellent ability in outreach activities and in communicating research results to society via interviews in radio, press releases and letters to the press. She has also contributed to enable further LCA studies of commonly used hard materials by the provision of previously lacking empirical data for these important materials. The announcement of Anna Furberg as the award winner, including a short summary of Anna’s key contributions, will also be presented in the International Journal of Life Cycle Assessment..

NORSUS congratulates Anna for her excellent achievements and this well-deserved award!
